CT angiography of the upper and lower extremities (CT scans of the blood vessels of the hands, legs, lower extremities, CT scan of the veins of the legs, CT scan of the arteries of the legs, CT scan of the thrombosis of the legs) is performed in Lviv 24/7 quickly and painlessly. The advantage of computer tomography of the vessels of the upper and lower extremities is high diagnostic accuracy, fast scanning (which takes a few minutes), the possibility to simultaneously examine several organs and systems, and minimal preparation for the examination. A team of professional doctors quickly provides the results of examination.
As a rule, a CT scan of the blood vessels of the lower extremities is performed when the patient has the following complaints: pain in the leg, pain when exercising, pain when walking, varicose veins of the lower extremities, swelling of the legs, wounds on the legs, gangrene of the legs, arrhythmia, pallor of the leg, blueness of the leg, “blood clots in the legs” (in fact, thrombosis of the deep veins of the lower extremities), numbness of the legs, tingle in the legs, leg injury, and bleeding from the leg.
In most cases, a CT scan of the blood vessels of the upper extremities is conducted when the patient has the following complaints: pain in the hand, pain when exercising, swelling of the hands, wounds on the hands, arrhythmia, pallor of the hand, blueness of the hand, “blood clots in the hands” (in fact, deep vein thrombosis of the upper extremities), numbness of the hands, tingle in the hands, injury of the hand, and bleeding from the hand.
A CT scan of the upper and lower extremities can be performed both with and without contrast enhancement.
Indications for a CT scan of the extremities without contrast enhancement:
- assessment of injuries (complex fractures and dislocations);
- planning of undergoing operations;
- control of one’s state after metallo-osteosynthesis;
- control of consolidation of fractures;
- infectious diseases (osteomyelitis, bone tuberculosis);
- arthritis, arthrosis of the joints of the limbs.
Indications for a CT scan of the extremities with contrast enhancement:
- tumor processes (especially for evaluation of bone structures);
- inflammatory processes;
- abscesses, liquid collectors;
- pain syndromes of unclear origin, impaired mobility;
- developmental anomalies;
- sharp pain in the limbs that occurs at rest;
- acute arterial thrombosis;
- control of one’s state after surgical treatment (assessment of the functioning of vascular prostheses);
- diabetic angiopathy;
- aneurysms and abnormalities of vascular development (e.g., arterio-venous connections) of the arteries of the limbs;
- vascular injuries;
- obliterating lesions of arteries (in autoimmune diseases).
